Drake and Sherri Get Married
There have been more than a few unusual favors asked of me over the years. This year is no exception. I receive a call from Sherri one afternoon in early September. She had told me that Drake asked her to get married, I definitely thought that this was wonderful news and was happy that she called me to give me the news. I was expecting the usual request of photographing their wedding. A request I most certainly would agree too.
The part that surprised me, Sherri asked me if I would honor them by marrying them. Being an ordained minister with the venerable Universal Life Church since 2003, I naturally accepted their request. It was a real honor for me to do this favor for my two dear friends. This incidentally was my first wedding ceremony.
Drake’s parents came to town last week and we found a beautiful spot in the mountains that overlooked Boulder to do the small ceremony.
The Greek Festival
This year Andrew and I made over to the Greek Festival at the Greek Orthodox Church on Jay Road in Boulder. I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew there would be food.. There was, and it was fabulous. The Souvlaki was the menu item to eat.. Lamb, chicken, pork, or falafel, boy was it good. Andrew and I made it both days, mostly for the food, we got to check out the church and some of the books and nic-nacs for sale. The music or speakers weren’t on stage while we were there, but we managed. Oh, I suggest the Greek Coffee. YUM!
Manhattan Summer of 2009
My trip to New York this year was pretty uneventful. I managed to stay for a three days and visit with a couple of friends. The weather was brutal. I could have easily taken 4 showers a day, the humidity was 90%+ the whole time I was there. This time around I really got to see some pretty interesting things like the High Line, most things stayed the same from all the previous visits. While most people find it easier to take time off from work in Summer, Autumn is by far the time to visit.
Manhattan as borough, is such a spectacular place to photograph, no matter what time of year you go. I really love shoot there. Every turn has a different feel, and even a different look from the last corner you rounded.
