…killed here. is what the sign reads.. That cyclist’s name was Matt Powell and he died on Friday 19 September 2008. He only lived a few short blocks from here. Matt was in my circle of friends here in B-Town.

A Memorial for Matt

These white bicycles are frequently seen in NYC and while we are lucky enough not to see these in the same frequency as NY residents the feeling of loss and sadness is same. Matt, like many of us here in Boulder, loved riding his bike around town. The wonderful feeling of getting onto your bicycle and riding a few blocks to meet your friends, go to work or even to shop for groceries is something he cherished. The life of a cyclist is not an easy one, but it is a lifestyle Matt would never give up. Whenever I saw him, he always had a smile on his face, I’ll miss that guy. That is what I’ll remember.
