Manhattan Summer of 2009
My trip to New York this year was pretty uneventful. I managed to stay for a three days and visit with a couple of friends. The weather was brutal. I could have easily taken 4 showers a day, the humidity was 90%+ the whole time I was there. This time around I really got to see some pretty interesting things like the High Line, most things stayed the same from all the previous visits. While most people find it easier to take time off from work in Summer, Autumn is by far the time to visit.
Manhattan as borough, is such a spectacular place to photograph, no matter what time of year you go. I really love shoot there. Every turn has a different feel, and even a different look from the last corner you rounded.

New York City 2007
My visit two years ago was probably my favorite photographic journey of Manhattan. Here are the pictures from my time there. All the pictures were shot with a 1974 Rollei 35S. I find it to be freeing to shoot with a compact film camera instead of a compact digital camera. There is no LCD screen to distract you from the task at hand, which is to document your surroundings. With the Rollei 35 I can pre-focus and meter ahead of time, allowing me to shoot from the hip. I can shoot very quickly to capture the moment before it disappears.

This was taken this morning during my stroll through Battery Park this morning. I used Microsoft ICE to stich three images together.
