Musicians

Portraits of musicians are fun, yet are more difficult than typical portraits. As a photographer, you don’t have much say on when, were, and how to take a musician’s portrait. Performance portraits are the least fun to me, because we have all seen the same images before. Musicians at practice are typically more interesting, because there is usually still some interaction between the photographer and musicians. Just like typical portraiture, it is very important to engage with your subject. It is important to understand where we both come from creatively, to be on the same page at the end of the shoot.
